About
W3Wizardry.com is a page built from the ground up as a showcase for the design work of Jacob Schaer. However, that's not to say there isn't good/useful information here for the user, as I try very hard to keep quality up-to-date information here. All the code was hand written, and basically everything including the design is unique to W3Wizardry.com. Special thanks to Christina Chun for her work on the Logo, as without it there really wouldn't be much of a design at all. Also, I'd like to extend a great deal of thanks to the members at the IWDN forum for all their technical advice on some of the more challenging problems that came up during my work.
Former Web Design Work
- Trinity of Mesa's Building Project Website
- This website was designed for Trinity Baptist Church in Mesa Arizona as a way to keep the congregation informed of all the significant changes taking place on campus. The main challenges were setting up the Coppermine gallery and finding a decent Javascript progress bar.

- PenguinSmart.com
- This website was designed as a template to be sold along side of the domain name "penguinsmart.com". The site was sold, so I no longer have any control of the template that is being used. The challenges of this website was to make create the "feeling" of Linux, and have a very organized 3-column design. The color scheme was chosen based on advice from Christina Chun, and I had a lot of help form the IWDN community in fixing the various browser issues that showed up.

- Plugin Tester
- This website was designed to be an easy to use tool for verifying that all major browser plugins have been installed, and are functioning correctly on the client machine. A secondary goal was to do all of this with Valid HTML. The challenges arose when I began to realize that Internet Explorer needed proprietary <embed> tags, which would fail validation. So, to solve this I was forced to write a PHP browser identification script that would server only the appropriate code to each individual browser, thus allowing me to have at least partially valid pages.

- Former W3Wizardry.com
- Back in the days before I was even competent with HTML or CSS, I really wanted to have a personal website and so I purchased the domain: W3Wizardry.com. A catchy name, but it was difficult to design for. This original design was a really poorly coded (though still valid), attempt to basically just get my name out on the internet. The challenges I overcame were: creating a well supported Print Stylesheet, and having a fully scalable website (unlike this fixed design).
